Inspection Criteria + Scope
PipeFacts™measures over 200 data points through a combination of field assessments, formal inspections, and office technical review. We utilize API 5CRA as our baseline analysis criteria and have included other industry best practices to guide our comprehensive quality service, PipeFacts™.
Storage Conditions & Accessibility
When our quality team first arrives to field locations, we first analyze the pipe's packaging condition and how it is stored. Proper storage is key to the long-term preservation of OCTG and may impact its future useability.

Alloy Confirmation
When it comes to alloy confirmation, we not only verify, we validate. We combine visual verification techniques with positive material identification (PMI) readings. The PMI reads the product chemistry and validates the alloy in the review.

Item Traceability
It is important to review all stencils and etchings to connect each joint to a specific heat number on the original mill test reports (MTRs). Our team records and reviews all stencils and etchings to link critical quality information to a joint level basis, and we use the markings to better understand the history of the pipe.

API Compliance
Our technical team reviews all mill test reports (MTRs) against API 5CRA requirements. In this review, we identify heat numbers within API acceptance and perform a gap analysis on the heat numbers that are not within API. This review provides complete clarity on how the product compares to the leading industry specification API 5CRA.
Material Condition
We verify the finish and surface condition of both the outside diameter (OD) and the pipe's inside diameter (ID). This process will also identify joints that require any remediation in line with API-approved remediation techniques.

Thread Inspection
We have multiple stages of visual thread inspections (VTI) in PipeFacts™. When we first inspect material, we perform a sample VTI to ensure threads are free of contamination, rough edges and burrs. During this time we also ensure threads have proper storage compound. Prior to material being sold, we coordinate with each particular thread licensee to conduct a 100% VTI. Threads are the area of the pipe most likely to have a potential failure, so we put extra attention to assuring threads are 100% per threads licensee standards.

Recover Target End Goal
PipeSearch imports your list into our intelligence engine and generates a PipeStats report for your review. The PipeStats report outlines options that maximize value for different seller situations. PipeStats provides a PipeRecover Target which is an estimated return value as a function of time
