OCTG 6″ 55.69# 15CR 125 Plain End

15 Chrome, or Super 15 Chrome, is a quenched and tempered martensitic-ferritic stainless steel that offers exceptional mechanical strength and increased resistance to CO₂, chlorides, varying pH, and elevated temperatures compared to standard 13 Chrome, making it an ideal and cost-effective choice for high-pressure, high-temperature oilfield environments with moderate chlorides, especially in deep wells requiring reliable performance of downhole tubulars, packers, and subsurface equipment, though it is not recommended for sour service or harsh H₂S conditions

Field Inspection Complete!

In this first step of our PipeFacts™ quality assurance process, we send our field services team to inspect material in its stocked location. During the initial evaluation, we ensure that this material is suitable for acquisition and suitable for prime applications. Once the field inspection is complete, we move material to one of our regional storage and inspection hubs for further inspections.

Disclaimer: The burst and collapse figures displayed are based on the API dimension tolerance of 87.5% of nominal wall thickness. Note that martensitic, duplex, super duplex, and nickel alloys often have tighter dimensional tolerances, therefore, increased strength ratings. The properties do not factor connection performance ratings. If your application requires more information ratings, please contact our technical services team, and we happily assist you.

Alloy Description

15 Chrome, also known as Super 15 Chrome, is a quenched and tempered martensitic-ferritic stainless steel designed for corrosion resistance in sweet (CO2) environments with moderate chloride levels, offering high strength up to 400°F. Compared to standard 13 Chrome, 15 Chrome provides enhanced mechanical properties and superior resistance to the effects of CO2, chlorides, pH variations, and higher temperatures. Its improved strength and temperature tolerance, relative to Super 13 Chrome, make it suitable for deeper wells operating under high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, where it is used in downhole tubular components, packers, and other subsurface equipment.

In certain applications, 15 Chrome may serve as a more cost-effective alternative to duplex stainless steels like 22 Chrome in HPHT environments. However, it is crucial to evaluate all relevant environmental factors, such as H2S, CO2, temperature, pH, and chloride concentration, before finalizing material selection.

Super 15 Chrome, grade 125, is not recommended for use in sour service conditions.
