Coupling 7″ 38# 25CRW-125 VAM TOP 20° Bevel

The 7″ 38# 25CRW-125 VAM TOP coupling with a 20° bevel is built for high-performance in harsh, high-chloride and mildly sour environments. Made from cold-worked super duplex stainless steel with a PREN > 40, it delivers excellent resistance to pitting and corrosion. Designed with the proven VAM TOP connection, this coupling ensures robust gas-tight sealing and high torque capacity—ideal for critical offshore and HPHT applications.

During this phase of PipeFacts™, material is received into one of our regional storage and inspection hubs, and we put material through a more detailed inspection. Our teams of inspectors inspects the pipe body for traceability and potential body defects and inspects the threads while a quality team in the office evaluates the as produced specification of the material test reports (MTRs).

Disclaimer: The burst and collapse figures displayed are based on the API dimension tolerance of 87.5% of nominal wall thickness. Note that martensitic, duplex, super duplex, and nickel alloys often have tighter dimensional tolerances, therefore, increased strength ratings. The properties do not factor connection performance ratings. If your application requires more information ratings, please contact our technical services team, and we happily assist you.

Alloy Description

Super Duplex 25 Chrome alloys, including 25CRW and 25CRS, are cold-hardened duplex stainless steels designed for corrosion resistance in sweet (CO2) and moderately sour (H2S) environments with high chloride concentrations, providing high strength up to 450°F.

The “Super” designation signifies a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of ≥40, offering enhanced protection against H2S and localized corrosion from high chloride levels and/or oxygen, compared to standard 25 Chrome. As a result, these alloys are commonly used in tubing and liners for seawater and water injection wells. However, it is important to evaluate all relevant environmental factors, including H2S, CO2, temperature, pH, and chloride concentration, before finalizing material selection.

These alloys are classified under MR0175/ISO15156 as duplex stainless steels with a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) ≥40, suitable for environments with H2S partial pressures up to 3.0 psi.
