OCTG 3.5″ 14.70# 2535 140 VAM TOP R2

Alloy 2535 (UNS N08535) is a cold hardened nickel-based alloy intended for corrosion resistance in highly sour (H2S) environments with moderate chloride content, requiring high strength up to 350°F. 2535 offers increased resistance to the effects of H2S relative to stainless steels allowing its use as downhole tubular components, packers, and other subsurface equipment in sour wells with high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) conditions and Injection wells. However, all environmental factors, including H2S, CO2 , temperature, pH, and chloride concentration, should be considered before final material selection. VAM TOP® is recognized as setting the standard in reliability and performance in threaded and coupled premium connections. With a track record of over 30 years, the connection minimizes the risks that result from the most severe combined loads making it a suitable solution for even the most critical applications.

During this phase of PipeFacts™, material is received into one of our regional storage and inspection hubs, and we put material through a more detailed inspection. Our teams of inspectors inspects the pipe body for traceability and potential body defects and inspects the threads while a quality team in the office evaluates the as produced specification of the material test reports (MTRs).

Disclaimer: The burst and collapse figures displayed are based on the API dimension tolerance of 87.5% of nominal wall thickness. Note that martensitic, duplex, super duplex, and nickel alloys often have tighter dimensional tolerances, therefore, increased strength ratings. The properties do not factor connection performance ratings. If your application requires more information ratings, please contact our technical services team, and we happily assist you.

Alloy Description

Alloy 2535 (UNS N08535) is a cold-hardened nickel-based alloy engineered for corrosion resistance in highly sour (H2S) environments with moderate chloride levels, providing high strength up to 350°F.

Compared to stainless steels, 2535 offers enhanced protection against the effects of H2S, making it suitable for use in downhole tubular components, packers, and other subsurface equipment in sour wells under high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, as well as in Acid Gas Injection (AGI) wells. However, it is essential to evaluate all environmental factors, such as H2S, CO2, temperature, pH, and chloride concentration, before selecting the appropriate material.

UNS N08535 is classified under MR0175/ISO15156 as a type 4c alloy, with no restrictions for H2S partial pressure below 270°F, and it can withstand 200 psi H2S at 350°F.
