OCTG 10.125″ 79.29# 15CR-125 Plain End R3

The 10.125″ 79.29# 15CR-125 min KSI Plain End R3 casing is manufactured from Super 15 Chrome, a quenched and tempered martensitic-ferritic stainless steel that offers excellent corrosion resistance in sweet (CO₂) environments with moderate chloride exposure. With a minimum yield strength of 125 ksi and temperature tolerance up to 400°F, this casing provides superior mechanical performance for HPHT wells. Its plain-end configuration allows for flexible connection options, making it a reliable choice for deep, high-pressure applications where strength and corrosion resistance are essential.

During this phase of PipeFacts™, material is received into one of our regional storage and inspection hubs, and we put material through a more detailed inspection. Our teams of inspectors inspects the pipe body for traceability and potential body defects and inspects the threads while a quality team in the office evaluates the as produced specification of the material test reports (MTRs).

Disclaimer: The burst and collapse figures displayed are based on the API dimension tolerance of 87.5% of nominal wall thickness. Note that martensitic, duplex, super duplex, and nickel alloys often have tighter dimensional tolerances, therefore, increased strength ratings. The properties do not factor connection performance ratings. If your application requires more information ratings, please contact our technical services team, and we happily assist you.

Alloy Description

15 Chrome, also known as Super 15 Chrome, is a quenched and tempered martensitic-ferritic stainless steel designed for corrosion resistance in sweet (CO2) environments with moderate chloride levels, offering high strength up to 400°F. Compared to standard 13 Chrome, 15 Chrome provides enhanced mechanical properties and superior resistance to the effects of CO2, chlorides, pH variations, and higher temperatures. Its improved strength and temperature tolerance, relative to Super 13 Chrome, make it suitable for deeper wells operating under high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions, where it is used in downhole tubular components, packers, and other subsurface equipment.

In certain applications, 15 Chrome may serve as a more cost-effective alternative to duplex stainless steels like 22 Chrome in HPHT environments. However, it is crucial to evaluate all relevant environmental factors, such as H2S, CO2, temperature, pH, and chloride concentration, before finalizing material selection.

Super 15 Chrome, grade 125, is not recommended for use in sour service conditions.
